John was from Bethsaida.  You would think we would know where that was.  We don't.  But we have some good ideas.

John was also a commercial fisherman at Lake Galilee.  That actually tells us a lot, because we know what fishermen did then.  And this tells us why Jesus had use of John's special skill set.  And also why, perhaps, he was known to the High Priest and was admitted to the courtyard for Jesus' trial before the Sanhedrin.
