David A. Shaneyfelt
There are some 1.3 million attorneys in the United States. David A. Shaneyfelt is only one of them. But he brings a unique and fresh perspective to the history behind the Trial of Jesus.
First, he is a Roman Catholic steeped in the traditions and theology of the Roman Catholic Church. He is a graduate of Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, California, where he was introduced to Classical Liberal Education through the Great Books of Western Civilization. He has published more than 80 articles, op-eds, and feature stories in the Catholic press including, the National Catholic Register, Catholic World Report, Crisis Magazine, and Homiletic and Pastoral Review. He is also a member of the Western Province of Dominican Laity.
Second, he is an attorney in private practice, with more than thirty years’ experience in litigating complex civil matters in state and Federal courts across the country. He holds the highest peer rating for ethical standards and legal ability from Martindale-Hubbell, and is among the five percent of attorneys in Southern California recognized as a Super Lawyer. He practices with The Alvarez Firm in Calabasas, California, having been a shareholder in the New York-based law firm, Anderson Kill and having served as a Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Division, in Washington, D.C.
Third, he is a frequent speaker for several continuing legal education groups at conferences and webinars on insurance coverage issues. Among the webinars he leads are those sponsored by Bridgeport Continuing Education, the American Law Institute, and the Strafford Company. He is a graduate of Willamette College of Law in Salem, Oregon, where he was Senior Editor of the Law Review.
Fourth, he has been speaking on the Trial of Jesus Christ, and the history behind it, for more than twenty years to churches, schools, and organizations throughout Southern California. His lectures also cover Pontius Pilate and the history behind the Last Supper.
Fifth, he has taken inspiration and support from his wife and seven children and from his parents who raised him in the idyllic Southern Oregon town of Grants Pass, Home of the Mighty Cavemen. He currently lives in Santa Paula, California, near his alma mater, Thomas Aquinas College, and the community of friends who live in the surrounding area. Three of his children are graduates of Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas.
Sixth, his interests and associations are many and include membership and affiliation with Life Legal Defense Foundation, Alliance Defending Freedom, Men of Melchizedek, Tepeyac Leadership Institute, the Boethius Institute, Boy Scouts of America, and St. Augustine Academy, where he coaches its Mock Trial Team.
